What is the minimum order quantity for custom activewear?

10 pieces per design or colourway for most knit styles, with no small-order surcharge. Sizes can be mixed inside one design to reach the minimum, and stock fabrics allow even lower trial quantities.

How long do samples and bulk production take?

Samples: 7-10 days including your branding (10-14 days for bonded or taped outdoor constructions). Bulk: 15-25 days after sample approval, 20-30 days for technical outerwear. Shipping: 3-7 days by express or air, 20-35 days by sea.

Ordering & Minimum Quantity

MOQ and first orders

What is the average MOQ for private label activewear manufacturers?

Traditional private label factories in Europe and North America often ask for 300-500 pieces per style. Our MOQ is 10 pieces per design or colourway, which is deliberately low so a new brand can test a style before committing to a full season.

Can you produce a pilot run of 10 to 100 pieces per style?

Yes - that is our standard first-order size. Most brand clients start with a pilot run across two to five styles, sell it, then reorder the winners in the same fabrics and approved fit blocks.

Can I mix different styles and colours to reach the minimum?

Sizes and colourways can be mixed inside a single design. Different styles are counted separately, but we can group them within one production slot to keep the per-style minimum at 10 pieces.

Can I start an activewear brand with no manufacturing experience?

Yes. Around half of the brands we produce for are first-time founders. We handle tech pack development, size charts, fabric selection and branding artwork - you only need a clear product idea and a target customer.

Do you work with startups and small brands?

That is our core business. Our MOQ, our sample-first process and our reorder model are all built for brands ordering between 10 and 2,000 pieces per style.

What do you need from me to quote and sample?

A reference garment, a tech pack, or clear photos plus your fabric and colour direction. If you have a size chart or a target retail price, include it - it changes which fabric and construction we recommend.

Do you offer design and tech pack development?

Yes. Our in-house designers and pattern makers can build the tech pack from your brief: construction, measurement chart, grading, trim list and branding placement.

Samples & Lead Times

From sample to shipment

How long does sampling take, and is it paid?

Samples ship in 7-10 days. Sampling is charged at cost - fabric, labour and courier - and the sample fee is credited against your bulk order once it is confirmed.

How many sample rounds do I get?

As many as the fit needs. The first round tests fit, fabric and construction; a second round confirms branding and trim. Each round takes 7-10 days, so a two-round programme typically lands inside three weeks.

How long is bulk production after I approve the sample?

15-25 days for knit activewear such as leggings, bras, hoodies and tees; 20-30 days for bonded softshells, taped-seam outerwear and complex digital print runs. We give you a dated production plan in the order confirmation.

Do you offer rush production?

For repeat orders in approved styles and stocked fabrics, we can usually compress the schedule. Tell us your in-hands date and we will confirm in writing whether it is achievable before you commit.

What happens if production slips?

We notify you as soon as a delay risk appears and give you the revised date and the reason in writing. Where a delay is caused on our side, we prioritise the order or split-ship partial quantities to protect your launch.

Pricing, Payment & Shipping

Cost and terms

How much does it cost to manufacture activewear per unit?

Unit cost depends on fabric, GSM, construction, branding method and quantity - for example a printed tee, a hoodie and a technical softshell sit in completely different cost brackets. Send your specification and we return a costed quotation with fabric, labour, branding and packing broken out, within 24 hours.

How is pricing structured, and do you offer volume discounts?

Pricing is quoted per piece with volume tiers. Because your minimum is only 10 pieces, you do not pay a small-order penalty at the start; as quantities grow, unit cost falls and we re-quote the tiers before you scale.

What are your payment terms?

For a first order, 30-50% deposit with the balance before shipment, or against a copy of the bill of lading for established buyers. Payment is by bank transfer (T/T); other methods can be discussed at order confirmation.

What shipping terms do you offer?

FOB, CIF and door-to-door DDP by express, air or sea. DDP is popular with DTC brands because the price you agree is the price landed at your warehouse, with duties included.

What will my landed cost be to the USA, UK or EU?

Landed cost is unit cost plus freight, insurance and import duty for your commodity code. We quote freight and prepare the commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin; we will show you the freight and duty estimate as separate line items so you can see the true landed number.

Do you handle reorders?

Yes, and reorders are the cheapest way to buy. We keep your approved pattern, fabrics, colour recipes and branding artwork on file, so a repeat order skips development and moves straight to production.

Fabrics, Materials & Certifications

Materials and compliance

What fabric is best for moisture-wicking activewear?

For training wear, a 140-190 gsm polyester interlock or polyester-elastane jersey with a wicking finish. For leggings, a 220-260 gsm nylon-spandex with 4-way stretch and good recovery. For mid-layers, grid fleece moves moisture while trapping warmth.

Which fabric makes leggings squat-proof?

Nylon-spandex at 240-260 gsm with a high stretch-recovery ratio and a dense knit. We test opacity and recovery on the sample - if it fails, we move up in GSM or change the knit structure before you approve.

Do you supply recycled polyester and other sustainable fabrics?

Yes - recycled polyester and recycled nylon-spandex blends, plus organic cotton options. We can source GRS-certified and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 fabrics through our mill partners on request; certification documents are issued by the mill for the specific lot.

What certifications should a sustainable activewear supplier provide?

At minimum, a GRS scope certificate from the fabric mill plus a transaction certificate for the lot you actually buy, and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 for skin-contact fabrics. Ask for the document with the lot number, not a marketing badge - and we will only pass on certificates that exist for your order.

Are your fabrics tested, and by whom?

Our fabrics are tested by SGS for colour fastness to light, colour fastness to washing, dimensional stability and pilling resistance. Reports are available to buyers on request.

Do you offer PFAS-free water-repellent finishes for outdoor wear?

Yes. PFC-free and PFAS-free DWR finishes are available on our shell and softshell fabrics, which matters for brands selling into the EU and into US states with PFAS restrictions. We confirm the treatment and target spray rating at sampling.

Can you match a fabric from a reference garment?

Yes. Send the garment and we identify composition and approximate GSM, then present matched swatches with the closest available weights and finishes for your approval.

Private Label, OEM, ODM & White Label

Choosing a manufacturing model

What is the difference between OEM, ODM, private label and white label?

OEM means we manufacture to your design and specification - your tech pack, your artwork, your brand. ODM means you choose from styles we have already developed, which shortens development time. Private label and white label both mean the product carries your brand rather than ours; white label usually refers to an existing stock style with only branding changed, while private label implies more customisation of fabric, fit and trims.

Which model should a new brand choose?

Most new brands start with a private label or light-ODM route: an existing fit block modified with your fabric, colour and branding, which cuts development time and risk. Once you know your bestseller, we move it to a fully custom OEM block.

Will my designs and patterns stay exclusive?

Yes. Patterns, tech packs and colour recipes developed for your brand are used only for your orders. We do not resell your custom block or your artwork to another client.

Can you handle branding, labels and packaging?

Yes: woven and printed labels, size and care labels, hangtags, polybags, branded zip pullers, custom packaging and poly-mailer inserts. Tell us your retail standard and we will match it.

Trust, Verification & Working With a China Factory

Verifying your supplier

How do I verify a manufacturer is legitimate before placing a bulk order?

Ask for four things: the factory's full registered address, a live video call from the production floor, a paid sample with your branding, and a third-party inspection option before shipment. We offer all four, and we encourage buyers to run third-party inspection on the first order.

How do I avoid middlemen and trading companies?

Ask whether cutting, printing and sewing are done in-house and request a video walk-through of those departments during your sample call. A trading company cannot show you its own floor. We run all of it ourselves in Dongguan.

What should I ask a clothing manufacturer before my first order?

MOQ per style, sample and bulk lead times, which processes are in-house, fabric and GSM specification, branding method, payment terms, shipping terms, QC process and what happens if the goods do not match the approved sample. Every one of those answers is in this FAQ.

How do you handle quality problems?

Final inspection is documented with measurements, photos and an AQL-based review, and you receive the report before shipment. If goods differ from the approved sample, we remake or credit the affected units under the terms on your order confirmation.

Do you allow third-party inspection?

Yes. SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek or your own agent are welcome on the floor before shipment. We schedule the appointment and provide the packing list in advance.
